THEO PARRISH must have been in love when he recorded the a-side track “solitary flight”: a straighter and more flexed beat as usual with beautiful, dreamy jazz piano improvisation on top and a romantic, soundtrack-like string motifs underneath make up for a truly uplifting piece of soul music. the flip is on the rougher tip again with raw, clashing hi-hats and claps with a menacing, claustrophoic sound tapestry out of piano and synth chords in the back. sheer excellence from the man again!!
